Manny being

without a team? Spring training is right around the corner and he still remains unsigned. The Dodgers offered him a two year deal, but it wasn't enough money or the length of contract he wanted. Does he honestly think that he's going to get a four or five year deal worth $25 million a year? The man is 36 going on 37. How many years does he have left in him? I mean really. Okay, he batted what, .396 for the two months he was with the Dodgers and helped them get to the postseason. Recall all his antics while he was in Boston. His bathroom break between innings inside the Green Monster, talking on his phone during the game, rolling over the ball while "trying to make a catch", the high-five to the Red Sox fan at the Orioles game after making a catch and then turning it into a double play. Oh wait, that was really awesome. But still. He doesn't hustle, concentrate, and only plays when he feels like it. Yet he makes more in one game than the average American makes in one year's salary.

The only team I see being able to afford to talk to Manny are the Yankees. He has said, while with the Red Sox I might add, that he would love to play for them. They have the cash, but they also just signed C.C. Sabathia, Mark Texiera, and A.J. Burnett to huge contracts. The Yanks may not be want to pay up. If they wanted a championship bad enough they would. As much drama as Manny brings, the guy can crush the ball. He is one of the best hitters in the majors right now, if not the best. To be perfectly honest, I think the Red Sox need him the most of every team out there. They have yet to make a huge free agent signing. It's a perfect opportunity. I'm just saying.
